Ruth Noziska, 80, of Grand Island, a former staff member of the Diocese of Grand Island marriage tribunal office, died Nov. 26, 2021. Mass of Christian Burial was Nov. 30, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Grand Island. Burial was at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Apfel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She was born in Milford to Oscar and Leona (Helmsteder) Ahlschwede. She graduated from Seward High School. She married Martin Nozicka and together they had four children.
They lived in North Platte. They were involved with the square/round dance organizations in the North Platte area for many years and eventually formed the Goodtime Dancers square dance group. They traveled throughout Nebraska and the surrounding states calling and teaching dances and workshops.
Martin died in March 1993 and Ruth moved to Grand Island, and worked for the Diocese of Grand Island in the marriage tribunal office.
In 1997, she married William Noziska. They enjoyed traveling and meeting with friends for coffee. He died in 2007. Ruth remained close to his two sons and their wives and families, Bill and Dee Noziska and Joe and Kathy Noziska.
She was active in her church community. She played the organ and sang in the choir at various churches, including St. Patrick's Church in North Platte. Following her move to Grand Island, she belonged to Blessed Sacrament parish and was active in the music ministry. In addition, Ruth enjoyed maintaining a huge yard with flowers.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Constance and William Lowndes, David and Melodie Nozicka, Theresa and Gordy Dye, and Michael and Beth Nozicka; her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
Other than her parents and her spouses, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Darrel Ahlschwede and Larry Ahlschwede.
