Nebraska Catholic Conference Reacts to Supreme Court School Choice Referendum Decision

Lincoln, Nebraska - On Friday, the Nebraska Supreme Court rejected a legal challenge that sought to block a ballot referendum on LB1402, a law establishing $10 million in state-funded scholarships, from appearing on the November ballot. Tom Venzor, Executive Director of the Nebraska Catholic Conference, made the following statement:

"This decision hurts the children and families who need support the most—those facing hardships such as bullying, disabilities, or the unique challenges of military life. Families already struggling to find resources for their children are now left with an uncertain future. As always, the Nebraska Catholic Conference stands at the ready to advance school choice programs for our low-income families and other families in need."
