MILWAUKEE, WI—Thirty-five School Sisters of St. Francis of the United States Province celebrated milestone anniversaries of service as women religious on June 15, 2024. A Jubilee Mass was celebrated in St. Joseph Chapel at the sisters’ motherhouse in Milwaukee.
In addition, six lay women in Associate Relationship with the community celebrated their 25, 40, and 50-year Jubilees.
Sister Bernadette Engelhaupt (60 years) is among those being honored. Her ministry includes service in the Diocese of Grand Island.
Sister Bernadette was born in Spencer, Nebraska. She has a bachelor's degree from Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a master's degree from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois.
In the Diocese of Grand Island, she has served as pastoral associate at Blessed Sacrament Church in Grand Island since 2019.

In the Archdiocese of Omaha, she taught at West Catholic Elementary School in Fordyce (1968–1970) and Pope John XXIII High School in Elgin (1970–1973).
In the Diocese of Lincoln, she served as pastoral associate at St. Josaphat Parish in Loup City (2009-2017).
