Sinsinawa Dominican Sister Pamela Mitchell, OP, celebrates her 40th jubilee in 2025. Born to Shirley and Lee Mitchell in Sidney, Neb., she made profession as a Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa in 1985. She received a BA in psychology from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, then went on to receive her JD in law from the law school there. She earned her Master’s in social work from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
Sister Pamela’s ministry has been dedicated to social work, congregation leadership, and missionary work. She was a social worker at the Villa d’Ames Center in Gretna, La. She studied at the Mexican American Cultural Center in San Antonio, Tex., in preparation to serve as a missionary in Central America. From 1991 to 2002, she lived among and ministered with the people there, first in El Salvador and then in Guatemala. Sister Pamela worked at Mental Health Resources as a bilingual case manager program manager in St. Paul, Minn. She served the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation on the leadership council from 2011 to 2023. She currently lives in community in Madison, Wis.
