Stir up in our hearts, O Lord,
a great longing to abide in you,
so that each time we receive
your precious Body and Blood
in the Eucharist,
we might experience the intimacy of life
that you offer us now, and that will be ours
forever with you in your Kingdom.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
Amen
Dear friends in Christ,
I am excited to shepherd the National Eucharistic Revival in our diocese over the next three years. Throughout this country, the Catholic Church is embarking on this mission: “to renew the Church by enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.”
Jesus said, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever.; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” How Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist is a great mystery. Nevertheless, it is important that we strive to deepen our understanding and appreciation for the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist throughout our lives.
The vision for this National Eucharistic Revival is: “to inspire a movement of Catholics across the United States who are healed, converted, formed and unified by an encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist – and who are then sent out on a mission ‘for the life of the world.’”
