April 14, 2024 Third Sunday of Easter Luke 24:35-48 “The two disciples recounted what had taken place on the way, and how Jesus was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.” The two disciples who encountered the risen Christ on the road to Emmaus, declared how Christ was “made known to them in the breaking of the bread.” For many individuals the pain and trauma of abuse by clergy have created a barrier to breaking bread together in the Eucharist. Let us join in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who have been absent from our parishes, but who long for the Eucharist! Remember them and pray for unity with them every time you pray an Act of Spiritual Communion. My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
