  Different types of marriage case procedures exist since there are different sources of nullity.   Below are the applications for the marriage case procedures that the Tribunal of the Diocese of Grand Island deals with the most. There are other marriage case procedures that the Tribunal may help you with if you contact us at 308-382-6364.
  
  DOCUMENTARY CASE APPLICATIONS
  Two (2) types of documentary processes challenge the validity of a marriage utilizing documentation. Do not use electronic signatures for these legal documents. Print the application forms, sign them as needed with black or blue ink, and then submit them completed to your pastor, deacon, or nullity minister at your parish.
  DEFECT/LACK OF CANONICAL FORM
  This application is used when one or both of the people are Catholic and did not observe canonical form (married by a Catholic priest or deacon in a Catholic Church with two witnesses) when attempting marriage.

  LIGAMEN
  
  This is also known as a prior bond or previous marriage. This documentary process is used when an individual who has been married before and never received a Declaration of Nullity from a Tribunal enters into another marriage.
  
  Ligamen Application (English) Ligamen Application (Spanish)
  
  FORMAL APPLICATION
  
  This is the most common type of nullity case. It requires a full Tribunal judicial procedure to legally prove that no valid sacramental union existed from the moment of consent (I do). A formal case typically involves a union between two baptized persons but can include a marriage between any two people.
