Betty Stoner, mother of Father Tim Stoner, dies

Betty Stoner, 90, of Grand Island, mother of Father Tim Stoner, died Sept. 27, 2021, at Primrose Retirement Community. Mass of Christian Burial was Oct. 1 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island with Fr. Tim Stoner officiating. Burial was in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. She was born July 27, 1931, in Grand Island to Alfred and Eva Grubbs. She attended Lincoln Elementary School, Walnut Junior High and Grand Island Senior High. She worked at Fairmont Foods and the Army Ammunition Plant, both in Grand Island, where she met her husband, Cecil Stoner. They were married May 27, 1953. She worked during the Korean War and also the Vietnam War. Survivors include her children and their spouses: Father Timothy Stoner, Trudy (Larry) Jeratowski, Linda (Jeff) Damratowski, Jerry Stoner, Marcia (Darrel) Stehlik, Craig (Paula) Stoner, Michelle (Tom) Harders; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, LaVern Grubbs. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil; her daughter, Kristen; a grandson, Jacob Harders; a brother and two sisters. Apfel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
