I was born in the Dominican Republic and I am the fourth of five siblings. At the age of 21, I emigrated to the United States to study and seek a better future. Several years later, due to the death of my father, I plunged into deep sadness and a life without hope. At my father's first death anniversary Mass, I received an invitation to participate in the youth group of the Sacred Heart Parish in South Bronx (New York) where I lived. I eagerly awaited the day to participate in the youth group and distract myself a little from the lifeless life I was living. The day came, but instead of going to the youth group, I entered by mistake the prayer group of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. God intended to change my sorrow into joy and heal my lone-liness and sadness for a purposeful life — and He did. After several years dedicated to His service, the Lord made me the most beautiful invitation of my life: to "leave everything for the Everything," which is God. I did so and, today, after more than 23 years of consecrated life at His service, I can say that it has been the best investment of my life. The Lord has shown me over the years that He is my true compass and accompanies me in all stages of my life. I seek as a personal mission to plant the "flag of love" in a world so turbulent that it cries out to be loved. God is love and with His love we will heal the ailments of the other; with love, wars will end; by love, the cure for diseases will be found; and for love, Jesus has given Himself so that you and I have eternal life.
